About: 

  • This event is hosted by the Dementia Friendly Coalition of Madison.

Caring for someone with dementia or cognitive changes at home can be both rewarding—and challenging. This community education event will share best practices for daily routines and home safety, along with community-based resources. We will have light refreshments and a host of partners to share about their programs and resources and even take you through some hands-on experiences.

  • 1:30-1:40 p.m. Welcome/Opening Remarks 
    • Short presentations or mini-sessions
      • 1:40-2:00 p.m. UW Dementia and Caregiver Program and Research Opportunities
      • 2:00-2:20 p.m. Access to Independence 
      • 2:20-2:40 p.m. Arts for All 
  • 2:40-3:00 p.m. BREAK
    • Short presentations or mini-sessions
      • 3:00-3:20 p.m. Falls Prevention by Falls Free Dane  
      • 3:20-3:40 p.m. UW Swallow Lab 
      • 3:40-4:00 p.m. Community Activity Program Panel
