MADISON, WI – The Dane County Regional Airport will host a triennial airport emergency exercise on Tuesday, September 12th, from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Airport officials, law enforcement agencies, Dane County emergency responders, and other support organizations will stage a mock incident to test their ability to respond to airport emergencies. Volunteers will play “victims” as well as other roles to provide a realistic scenario.
The Federal Aviation Administration requires full-scale emergency exercises to be held at least once every three years to ensure emergency personnel can act quickly and effectively. Officials use this exercise to focus on testing communications, victim rescue, firefighting capability, and how different agencies work together.
The event is highly structured and will involve an active response from local first responders. Many Dane County agencies will be involved with field triage and simulated transport to area hospitals.
The Dane County Regional Airport provides seamless, low-stress, and affordable options for both leisure and business travelers, with non-stop departures to cities including: New York, Washington D.C., New Jersey, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Denver, Charlotte, and one-stop access to worldwide destinations.
In addition, DCRA offers travelers a wide range of services aimed at making travel easier and more convenient as well, most recently opening its new 90,000-square-foot south terminal. Amenities include free Wireless Internet, a Business Center with training and conference rooms, family lounges, private mother’s lounges, children’s play area, and an indoor pet relief area.
