Dane County may charge fees to search for, copy or produce any documents requested. Further, in the event that records are requested in hard copies or must be mailed to the requestor, Dane County may charge fees for copying and shipping of the records. Pursuant to Dane County Ordinance 16.41, we charge 25 cents per page for single-sided copies and 40 cents per page for double-sided copies. Furthermore, pursuant to Dane County Ordinance 16.43, where the total fee for copies provided exceeds $5.00, the fee shall be paid in advance. If fees are required, the Records Control Officer will contact you before releasing the records to discuss and/or arrange payment of fees. However, Dane County does provide most records in electronic form.
Many Dane County Records are available online at the Dane County website. Dane County is not required to provide access to records that are publicly available.
