Dane County records are presumed to be open for inspection and copying. Each elected official and each County Department is responsible for providing the public with access to its records. Records Custodians generally make public records available for in-person inspection and copying during normal business hours; however, specific hours are posted with each department.
Wis. Stat. §19.35(1)(h) requires that requests for records to reasonably describe the subject matter and timeframe of requested records. Please ensure to include both with enough specificity to allow us to locate the appropriate records.
